Mesoleptogaster
Diagnostic description:
The genus Mesoleptogaster is distinguished from other Leptogastrinae by the long hind legs with strong, short macrosetae similar to Apachekolos. The male terminalia and head shape are also diagnostic. So far, 26 species are known to science.
Distribution:
The genus Mesoleptogaster is restricted to the Old World and occurs from western Africa to Fiji. The majority of species are found in tropical Africa and south-east Asia. Yet undescribed species are known from New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, and southern Africa.
