Antennae: (postpedicel broken)- scape brown, brown setae ventrally, white pruinose; pedicel brown, brown setae ventrally and dorsally, white pruinose
Thorax: black; postpronotal peg small, distinct, silver pruinose; scutum predominantly apruinose, anterior, lateral, and posterior margins grey pruinose, long brown setae on anterior and lateral margins; macrosetae: black, 1 notopeural seta, 1 supra-alar seta; scutellar silver pruinose, discal scutellar setae and scutellar setae long, brown
Legs: yellow and dark brown; prothoracic and mesothoracic femora yellow proximally, remaining part dark brown, metathoracic femora in proximal half yellow, distal half dark brown, slightly clubbed; prothoracic and mesothoracic tibiae brown, pale yellow stripe not reaching tip anteriorly, metathoracic tibiae pale yellow proximally, remaining part dark brown, pale yellow stripe anteriorly in proximal half; all tarsomere on prothoracic and mesothoracic leg brown, first tarsomere on metathoracic leg yellow, remaining tarsomere brown, setae black; empodium minute
Wings: densely covered with microtrichiae and dark brown coloured; pterostigma not distinguishable; discal cell terminating in 2 veins; halteres light brown
Abdomen: black; tergites brown pruinose medially and grey pruinose on anterior and posterior margins, T1 with long brown setae laterally, T2 in proximal half with white setae laterally, remaining tergites with short white and yellow setae, sternites grey pruinose
Male terminalia: surstylus pointed distally, lobe ventrally; hypandrium bent upwards, divided into 2 short lobes, sclerite situated posteriorly to gonostyli; dorsal aedeagal sheath open, extending gonopore, lateral processes of dorsal aedeagal sheath short; lateral apodeme simple.
The species is distinguished from congeners by the predominantly apruinose scutum, dark brown coloured wings, predominantly dark brown legs, and features of the male terminalia. This species is part of the brunnea species-group.
Type locality: DR Congo, Garamba National Park, Mount Moyo (04°06'N 029°27'E).
