Leptogaster
Diagnostic description:
The genus Leptogaster is very diverse and at present cannot be delimited by a unique set of features. All other genera of Leptogastrinae exhibit some unique features that are absent in species of Leptogaster. This genus is most probably not monophyletic and more research needs to be done. So far, 210 species are known to science.
Distribution:
The genus Leptogaster is found world-wide. The ‘true’ Leptogaster species occur only in the northern Hemisphere.
