Antennae: scape brown, brown setae ventrally; pedicel brown, brown setae ventrally and dorsally, white pruinose; postpedicel brown, white pruinose; apical 'seta-like' sensory element brown
Thorax: black; postpronotal peg large, silver pruinose; scutum predominantly yellow pruinose, margins silver pruinose, 2 narrow median stripes, originating at anterior margin, and 2 lateral spots, not reaching anterior and posterior margins, apruinose, short yellow setae medially, white setae on margins; macrosetae: 1 white notopeural seta, 1 black supra-alar seta; scutellar silver pruinose, discal scutellar setae and scutellar setae short, white
Legs: yellow and dark brown; prothoracic femora in proximal 2/3 yellow, distal third brown, mesothoracic femora in proximal third yellow, distal 2/3 brown, metathoracic femora in proximal half pale yellow, clubbed, club brown, setae white; tibiae brown and dark brown, pale yellow stripe not reaching tip on metathoracic tibiae anteriorly; first tarsomere in proximal 2/3 pale yellow, brown distad, remaining tarsomere brown, black setae; empodium distinct, very short
Wings: cells c, sc, br, and bm with few microtrichiae, remaining cells densely covered with microtrichiae, less microtrichiae along veins, brown stained; pterostigma distinct, brown; discal cell terminating in 2 veins; halteres light brown
Abdomen: black; tergites brown pruinose, grey pruinose laterally, T1 with long white setae laterally, T2 medially with white setae, remaining tergites with white and brown setae, sternites grey pruinose
Male terminalia: surstylus pointed distally, lobe ventrally and slightly expanded dorsally; hypandrium bent upwards; dorsal aedeagal sheath short, blunt; lateral apodeme simple, slightly expanded proximally.
The species is distinguished from congeners by the grey and brown pruinosity on the scutum, the densely arranged microtrichiae on the wings, and the pale yellow (proximal half) and brown (distal half) metathoracic femora.
Type locality: Malawi, Kasungu (40 km S, 13°22'S 033°28'E).
Afrotropical Region: Malawi.
